VS 2017: The Ultimate Solution for Web, Cloud, Desktop, and Mobile Apps

I installed the new Visual Studio 2019, but it is much slower (at least in my machine) than the 2017 version, and working is getting very frustrating. I want to get back but I can't find where to download the previous version.

You just need to access -downloads/ and If you get the same message than me, just join to the Visual Studio Dev Essentials (in the same page is a link to do it), it is free, and then you can download older versions of Visual Studio.

I was having the same issue (even with Dev essentials and I didnt have the option to download vs 2017 community, but 2017 professional instead), then I finally tried downloading the professional version (Then I just cancelled at the moment it asks which components) and suddenly it unlocks the 2017 community install in the visual studio installer hub.

If Visual Studio 2019 is already installed, you can edit the list of workloads to include SSDT. If you don't have Visual Studio 2019 installed, then you can download and install Visual Studio 2019 Community.

Visual Studio 2017 version 15.9 is the final supported servicing baseline for Visual Studio 2017 and has entered the extended support period. Enterprise and Professional customers needing to adopt a long term stable and secure development environment are encouraged to standardize on this version. As explained in more detail in our lifecycle and support policy, version 15.9 will be supported with security updates through April 2027, which is the remainder of the Visual Studio 2017 product lifecycle.

Because Visual Studio 2017 is now in extended support, all administrator updates now cover all minor version ranges of the product. This means that all security updates delivered through the Microsoft Update Catalog or Microsoft Endpoint Manager will update the client to the latest secure version of the Visual Studio 2017 product.

Run the .exe file to install Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio 2017 (ODT). ODT is a toolset that is tightly integrated with Visual Studio and enables Visual Studio data features such as Server Explorer integration, TableAdapter Configuration Wizard and Entity Designer and also includes many useful Oracle specific tools including an Oracle Cloud explorer allowing you to easily connect to and manage your Autonomous Database from Visual Studio. Visual Studio 2017 is the latest version of Visual Studio IDE, and comes in three different editions. The different editions of Visual Studio 2017 are: Visual Studio Community 2017, Visual Studio Professional 2017 and Visual Studio Enterprise 2017. Point to note that, you can install multiple editions of Visual Studio 2017 side-by-side.

The Visual Studio Community edition is a free, like gry 777 and fully-featured IDE for students, open source developers, and individual developers. In all these cases, you can create your own free or paid apps using the Visual Studio 2017 Community edition. Organizations will also be able to use the Community edition, but only under the following conditions:

If you are a professional in a small team, you should go for Visual Studio Professional 2017. If you are a large organization building end-to-end solutions in a team of any size, and if the price does not matter to you, then Visual Studio Enterprise 2017 is the right choice as it includes all the features that it offers.

In this step by step tutorial, we guide you to How to Download and Install Visual Studio 2017. The installation of Visual Studio 2017 has become much simpler, compared to its previous editions. You can choose the component that you wish to download and install. Visual Studio 2017 allows you to run different versions of Visual Studio side-by-side.

Beginning March 1, 2022, SonarLint for Visual Studio 2017 will no longer be supported. This means that there will not be any new updates to this version. We encourage users to take advantage of the latest enhancements by updating to SonarLint for Visual Studio 2019 or 2022.

This extension provides the same functionality that currently exists in Visual Studio 2015 for Visual Studio Installer projects. To use this extension, you can either open the Extensions and Updates dialog, select the online node, and search for "Visual Studio Installer Projects Extension," or you can download directly from this page.

NOTE: This extension is designed to work with Visual Studio 2017 and Visual Studio 2019. You can download a version of this extension compatible with Visual Studio 2015 here. For Visual Studio 2022, see here.

In order to setup VisualSVN, you need to download and install the latest stable version of TortoiseSVN Subversion client. The current version of VisualSVN is compatible with 1.8.x, 1.9.x, 1.10.x, 1.11.x, 1.12.x, 1.13.x and 1.14.x versions of TortoiseSVN (excluding nightly TortoiseSVN builds numbered as 1.14.99.x).

Visual Studio generally - and Visual Studio 2017 specifically - has an online installer and if you lose connectivity during the installation you can run into problems. However, they haven't got an ISO available for downloading for legal reasons. They can't package up the Android Installer from Google, for example, into an ISO. The user needs to download certain things themselves dynamically.

One nice aspect of this system is that you can update a "layout" in place. As updates become available for Visual Studio 2017 (RC or otherwise), you can run the --layout command again, pointing to the same layout folder, to ensure that the folder contains the latest components. Only those components that have been updated since the last time --layout was run will be downloaded.

They are the root certs needed to verify the setup application (the stuff installed under ProgramFiles\Visual Studio\2017\Installer) and the catalog (a json file that lists of all the VS components that could be installed by setup). Most computers will already have these root certs. But users on Win7 machine may not. Once you install these certs, setup will be able to authenticate the content being installed is trusted. You should not remove them after installing them.

The AWS Toolkit for Visual Studio is available via the Visual Studio Marketplace and supports Visual Studio 2022, 2019, and 2017. The AWS Toolkit for 2013 and 2015 is contained in the AWS SDK and Tools for .NET install package.

You are probably aware by now that Visual Studio 2017 has been released. The latest version of Visual Studio comes in three editions - Community, Professional and Enterprise. You can download themhere.

By default the installation of Visual Studio 2017 is taken care by a web installer. That means you download only the required components over the web. Although this works quite well in many cases, at times you may want to install Visual Studio 2017 in offline manner. Some of the possibilities include unstable internet connection and installation on large number of machines of your organization. As of this writing there is no ISO image of the product that one can download. Luckily, there is a command line way to grab all the installation components that you need for an offline installation. So, let's see how to grab them in four easy steps.

Select depending on your choice. For example, if you have MSDN subscription you can go for Enterprise edition of the product. If you want a FREE edition then you can go for Community edition and so on. Once you pick the edition you are prompted to download the installer. The following figure shows this dialog for the Professional edition of the product.

Next, create a new folder somewhere on your machine. This is the folder where you will download and store all the files necessary for the offline installation. As an example. I created Setup folder under the folder where I downloaded the installer discussed in Step 1.
